Poly Contacts

Are you polyamorous, non-monogamous, in an open marriage, an ethical slut? Are you interested in participating in media events? Are you someone who is confident about their speaking abilities? If so, would you consider becoming a polyamory media spokesperson? Do you have an interest, even a passion for helping to get the word out and further understanding about polymory as a legitimate relationship choice?

It is our mission to be a visible outlet and resource that makes members of print and broadcast media aware of your interest and availability for interviews, and for organizations to find public speakers for lectures and workshops. We invite you to join our poly media team and let us help you get started. Our staff members work closely with members of various civil rights groups to provide you with all the resources you need to represent yourself, your ideas, and polyamory itself well to the media. We can offer you resources to polish your presentation such as how to screen media requests to make sure you are treated fairly and how to dress for credibility.

We can offer suggestions on how to phrase your ideas to limit being taken out of context and to clarify your message. It is our goal to be a convenient, one-stop resource for non-monogamous people to get their message out to the general public with assistance in locating media events and creating a public persona whose message will be best received.

The first thing you can do is sign up and create your profile so that we can match you up with media requests. Then you can browse through the articles and links we will provide for you to help you prepare for media contact. We have gathered articles and resources from Loving More, the ACLU, and the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, among others. These organizations have been around for a while and have gathered some very valuable experience with dealing with the media and it is part of our mission to pass on that information to you. After you have signed up, we will give you access to all the materials we have compiled to help make your media experience successful.

We will also offer our services as "pre-screeners", which means that we will talk to the media first and then send on that information to you along with our recommendation of the potential experience and you can decide to contact the media representative based on your preferences and our recommendations. Your personal and contact information will be kept private. We will not give out or publish any of your information. It will be used to match up poly folk with the media based on what they are looking for, and then we will send their contact info to you. You can then decide to respond or not. You can still present yourself for media attention in any other way, such as responding to requests in message boards or on your website. If you wish, any media requests you receive independently can be forwarded on to us for pre-screening. We highly recommend this, but it is not necessary in order to take advantages of our other services.
